About Robertsons
Robertson's is one of Britain's most iconic marmalade brands, with a heritage dating back to 1864 when James Robertson first created his distinctive preserve in Paisley, Scotland. The brand's flagship product, Golden Shred marmalade, was perfected in 1874 and quickly became a British breakfast table staple that has endured for over 150 years. The Robertson's story began when James took pity on a struggling salesman and purchased a barrel of bitter Seville oranges. His wife Marion transformed these into a sweet-tasting marmalade, and James perfected a method to remove the bitterness while retaining the "highly tonic value of the fruit" - a process still used today to give Robertson's its distinctive clear, tangy flavour. The brand received its first Royal Warrant from King George V in 1933. Since 2010, Robertson's has featured the beloved Paddington Bear character on its Golden Shred jars, continuing through the Paddington film releases. The current range includes Golden Shred (classic orange marmalade), Golden Shredless (smooth without peel pieces), and Silver Shred (lemon marmalade since 1909).
