About Sapori
Sapori 1832 is one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious patisserie brands, founded by apothecary Virgilio Sapori in Siena, Tuscany in 1832. What began as a small workshop creating traditional Panforte has grown into an internationally acclaimed producer of authentic Tuscan confections. The brand's flagship Cantuccini Toscani carry protected PGI status from the EU, requiring production with Tuscan milk and honey, fresh eggs, and stone-ground almonds. These iconic twice-baked almond biscuits are traditionally enjoyed dipped in Vin Santo dessert wine. Despite wartime destruction of their original premises in 1944, Sapori rebuilt and expanded into new product lines including Ricciarelli (crinkled almond paste cakes), Cavallucci, nougats, and seasonal Christmas and Easter specialities. In 2004, Sapori joined the Colussi Group, bringing their authentic Sienese recipes to international markets. Available in the UK are the classic Almond Cantuccini Toscani IGP, indulgent Dark Chocolate Chunk variety, and soft Amaretti almond pastries - each crafted using recipes perfected over nearly two centuries of Tuscan tradition.
