About Solgar
Solgar is the Gold Standard in vitamins and nutritional supplements, founded in 1947 in a small laboratory on the Lower East Side of New York City. Pharmacists Nat Colby and Mike Goldfarb, along with holistic physician Carl Zoll, shared a revolutionary belief: preventing diseases with vitamins and minerals is better than treating them with pharmaceuticals. Their first product, Naturvite, broke new ground as a multivitamin with 30 essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in a natural parsley and vegetable base—abandoning the inorganic fillers of the era. The iconic amber glass bottle with gold cap became a Solgar signature, preserving freshness while signalling premium quality. Over 75+ years, one supplement grew to over 300 products sold in 60+ countries. Solgar's innovation timeline reads like a history of the supplement industry itself: sugar/salt/starch-free formulas (1968), Formula VM-75 with the first chelated minerals (1975), Formula VM-2000 with amino acids (1989), the revolutionary vegicaps—the world's first all-vegetarian capsule (1993), and the first Halal certified vitamin range (2008). They even launched the supplement industry's first website in 1995. Now part of Nestlé Health Science and manufactured in Leonia, New Jersey, Solgar maintains The Solgar Gold Standard at every stage.
