About Stokes
Stokes Sauces is a premium British condiment brand founded in 2004 by Rick Sheepshanks in Suffolk, England. The quest for great taste began with quality REAL mayonnaise as the primary goal, quickly followed by tomato ketchup—so good it was the only way Sheepshanks got his daughter to eat vegetables. Based at Rendlesham Hall in Suffolk, Stokes makes everything themselves in a converted stable block, giving them complete control over ingredients, mixing, and packaging. The brand was built on finding the best version of every ingredient: Greek Koroneiki olive oil, British free-range eggs, and sweet Mediterranean tomatoes. Everything is proudly made right here in Suffolk, supporting British producers wherever possible. Before founding Stokes, Sheepshanks' Suffolk Foods business supplied mayonnaise in bulk to Pret a Manger, Greggs, supermarkets, cruise lines, and airlines. After restrictions from a failed management buyout, he pivoted to retail—and Stokes Sauces was born. In 2025, Stokes celebrates its 21st anniversary with a fresh new look while maintaining its British heritage and commitment to quality. The brand has grown significantly while keeping its artisan spirit: now offering over 60 different products, exporting to more than 50 countries, and supplying both retail consumers and foodservice operators. The range includes Real Mayonnaise, Tomato Ketchup, Brown Sauce, Tartare Sauce, Mint Sauce, Cranberry Sauce, Horseradish, Bloody Mary Ketchup, and many more. The "Sauces for Food Lovers" strapline captures the brand's homely, comforting, and joyful positioning. Stokes is available at UK supermarkets, farm shops, and fine food retailers.
