About The Black Farmer
The Black Farmer is an award-winning British food brand founded by Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones MBE, a pioneering figure who became known as "The Black Farmer" after purchasing his small farm on the Devon-Cornwall border. Born in Jamaica and raised in Birmingham as part of the Windrush generation, Emmanuel-Jones overcame challenges including dyslexia to fulfil his dream of owning a farm and launching a successful food brand. The Black Farmer specialises in high-quality British meats with a Caribbean twist. The brand's multi-award-winning sausages are 100% gluten-free, made with 90% British pork, and flavoured with Wilfred's special seasoning including pepper, nutmeg, sage and parsley. The range extends to gluten-free burgers, meatballs, dry cure bacon, organic chicken, free range eggs, and mature cheddar cheese. Beyond great food, The Black Farmer champions diversity in farming. Emmanuel-Jones received an MBE in 2020 for services to British farming and established the Black Farmer Scholarship scheme and New Faces for Farming project to inspire new entrants from non-farming backgrounds. For Black History Month, the brand launched Caribbean-inspired sausages with packaging featuring British heroes like Mary Seacole.
