About Wood Farm
Wood Farm is a family-run free range egg producer located at Waresley near Sandy in Bedfordshire. Run by Charles and Jo Mear since 2012, the 1,000-acre farm has built a reputation for combining exceptional egg quality with industry-leading sustainability practices, working toward the goal of producing the UK's first carbon-neutral free range eggs. Central to Wood Farm's philosophy is the belief that happy hens produce tastier eggs. Their commitment to animal welfare is reflected in their Freedom Food certification alongside the British Lion quality mark. By producing and packing eggs on-site at the farm, Wood Farm maintains both freshness and a minimal carbon footprint - eggs are often produced and packed on the same day. The Mear family has embraced circular farming principles, installing solar panels and anaerobic digestion systems to reduce environmental impact. This pioneering approach to sustainable egg production has attracted attention from major retailers, leading to a joint venture with Yorkshire Farmhouse Eggs to supply three major UK supermarkets. Founded in 2007 as Wood Farm Freerange Eggs Limited, the company remains focused on local production with national reach. Available at Tesco, Morrisons, and other major retailers, Wood Farm eggs offer consumers the opportunity to support British family farming while enjoying exceptionally fresh, ethically produced free range eggs.
