About Ariel
Ariel is a leading laundry detergent brand owned by Procter & Gamble, developed at their European Technology Centre in Belgium and first launched in the UK in January 1969. As the first detergent with stain-removing enzymes (provided by Novozymes), Ariel marked a revolutionary milestone in the cleaning products sector—enabling effective stain removal at lower temperatures and pioneering energy-efficient washing. The brand has continuously innovated over five decades: quickwash action in 2003, the "Turn to 30" cool water campaign in 2006, concentrated Ariel Power liquid in 2008, Excel Gel for washing at 15°C under "Cold is the New Hot" in 2008, and the groundbreaking 3-compartment Ariel PODS in 2012—the first liquid tab of its kind. In 2020, the All-in-1 PODS represented the latest breakthrough in convenient, effective laundry care. Today's UK range includes All-in-1 PODS (Original, Colour Protect, Touch of Lenor), washing powder, concentrated liquids and gel formulations. Products are available in various sizes from small packs to bulk value boxes. Ariel holds "billion-dollar brand" status within P&G's portfolio, alongside Tide, Pampers and Gillette, and remains P&G's flagship laundry brand across Europe and globally. The brand's enzymatic technology removes tough stains like grass, food and grease whilst being gentler on fabrics, and modern formulations work effectively even in cold quick-wash cycles.
