About Barilla
Barilla is the world's largest pasta producer, a family-owned Italian company that has been crafting pasta since 1877. Founded by Pietro Barilla Sr. as a small bakery in Parma, Italy, the company has grown into a global giant present in over 100 countries, whilst remaining true to its Italian heritage and family ownership through four generations. The company's journey from a Parma bakery to world leader accelerated in 1910 when the Barilla brothers built their first factory, and decisively in 1969 when Barilla constructed the world's largest pasta production plant in Parma with a daily capacity of 1,000 tonnes. In 1952, the company made the strategic decision to focus exclusively on pasta, abandoning bread production to perfect their core product. In the UK market, Barilla strengthened its position in 2021 by acquiring Pasta Evangelists, a premium D2C fresh pasta company. This acquisition brought artisan-quality fresh pasta expertise to complement Barilla's extensive dried pasta range, which includes over 40 pasta shapes from classic spaghetti and penne to speciality cuts. Barilla's reputation for quality was recognised in 2025 when the company was ranked first among food companies in the Global RepTrak 100 for the second consecutive year. The brand also became Formula One's official pasta partner in 2025, reflecting its global prominence.
