About Bostik
Bostik is a global leader in adhesives and sealants with a rich history dating back to 1889. Originally founded as the Boston Blacking Company in Chelsea, Massachusetts, producing leather dyes and colourings, the company evolved through the chemical industry to become a household name synonymous with reliable adhesive solutions. Products bearing the Bostik brand emerged in the 1940s, with the company officially adopting the Bostik name in the 1960s. British consumers know Bostik best for Blu Tack, the iconic reusable adhesive putty launched in the early 1970s. This simple yet ingenious product became a staple in homes, schools, and offices across the UK, used for hanging posters, crafts, and countless other applications. Bostik's ownership has passed through several major corporations over the decades. After Emhart Corporation acquired the company in 1980, followed by Black & Decker in 1989, French energy giant Total purchased Bostik in 1990. In 2015, Arkema, a global specialty chemicals leader, acquired Bostik to strengthen its position in high-performance adhesives. Today, Bostik employs over 7,000 people across 45 countries and generates €2.7 billion in annual sales. With more than 9,000 patented technologies spanning everything from aerospace interiors to consumer craft supplies, Bostik continues to innovate while maintaining its reputation as the go-to brand for adhesives in British supermarkets and craft aisles.
