About Braces
Brace's Bakery is Wales' biggest bread brand, a four-generation family business founded in 1902 by George Brace, a former engine house driver from Abercarn who survived the 1905 Cambrian Colliery mining disaster. From humble beginnings selling bread in Pontllanfraith, the company has grown to produce around 50 million units per year. Now based in Crumlin and run by George's great-grandsons Mark and Jonathan Brace, the company operates modern bakery facilities at Croespenmaen and Blackwood capable of producing 900,000 loaves per week. In 2022, a £4 million investment added new production lines capable of 16,000 rolls per hour. Brace's product range includes sliced bread, rolls, Welsh cakes, tea cakes, and crumpets. The brand has earned its place in Welsh hearts through consistent quality and deep local roots - George's brother William Brace was even a miners' activist and MP for South Glamorganshire. Available from major UK supermarkets including Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Lidl, and Co-op across South Wales and the South West, Grocefully helps you compare Brace's bread prices to find the best value.
