About Castel Regio
Castel Regio is a respected Italian cheesemaker from Lombardy, producing traditional Gorgonzola and other artisan cheeses since 1914. Founded by the Arrigoni family, the company began by making cheeses following old family recipes, quickly proving to be an industry favourite by supplying young wheels to well-known brands throughout Italy. After 30 years of sustainable expansion, Arrigoni Battista began selling cheeses under their own Castel Regio label. Their Gorgonzola Dolce remains produced and matured in the mountains of Bergamo, where the unique microclimate creates the perfect environment for the cheese to reach its full potential over 2-3 months of ageing. The Castel Regio range includes both Gorgonzola Dolce - the "sweet" variety with mild flavour and creamy texture - and Gorgonzola Piccante, the traditional drier style with a distinct spicy character. Made from pasteurised cow's milk with washed rind and traditional coagulant, these DOP-certified cheeses represent the finest Italian cheesemaking tradition. Available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Castel Regio Gorgonzola brings authentic Italian excellence to British cheese boards.
