About Chambord
Chambord Liqueur Royale de France is a premium black raspberry liqueur with a heritage stretching back to the 17th century Loire Valley. The drink was inspired by a raspberry liqueur said to have been served to King Louis XIV during his visits to the magnificent Château de Chambord, the largest château in the Loire Valley and a former royal hunting retreat. The modern Chambord was launched in 1981 by Norton "Sky" J. Cooper, who inherited the Charles Jacquin et Cie liquor company from his father and revived this historic French recipe for contemporary palates. In 2006, Kentucky-based Brown-Forman acquired the brand, adding Chambord to a prestigious portfolio that includes Jack Daniel's and Woodford Reserve. Production remains authentically French, based in Cour-Cheverny in the Centre-Val de Loire region, less than 10 miles from the iconic château that inspired its name. Chambord's distinctive character comes from its complex recipe combining black raspberry infusion with cognac, natural vanilla extract, citrus peel, honey, and a proprietary blend of herbs and spices. At 16.5% ABV, it delivers intense raspberry flavour balanced by subtle sweetness, making it a bartender's favourite for craft cocktails. The iconic spherical bottle, modelled on a globus cruciger, creates instant recognition behind any bar. UK shoppers can find Chambord at major supermarkets including Asda and Ocado. Essential for cocktails like the French Martini, Kir Impérial, and Chambord Royale, this luxurious liqueur brings a touch of French sophistication to home entertaining and special occasions.
