About Crumbs Brewing
Crumbs Brewing is a certified B Corp brewery founded in Reigate, Surrey in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Morgan and Elaine Arnell. Inspired by the shocking statistic that 44% of bread made in the UK goes uneaten, they left corporate life to create something meaningful - delicious beer brewed from surplus loaves. The brewery partners with Chalk Hills Bakery in Reigate, collecting loaves that would otherwise go unsold and transforming them into award-winning craft beers. Each beer is brewed using a different type of leftover bread, allowing the character of the loaf to shine through in the finished pint. Their world-first Naan Lager is made from wonky naan bread, while Bloomin Amber Lager uses bloomer loaves. The environmental impact is remarkable - Crumbs has rescued over 30,000 loaves from waste, putting roughly a slice of bread in every pint. This reduces the need for virgin malt in brewing, saving water and energy in production. They estimate every pint saves around 100g of CO2 emissions, with collections made in their electric van to minimize environmental impact further. Recognition has followed their innovative approach - Crumbs has won two Great Taste Awards and twice won RBBC business awards for Start-up and Sustainable Business of the Year. They were finalists in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2022 and won the CREST sustainability award for 'transforming food'. UK shoppers can find Crumbs Brewing at Tesco, Waitrose, and John Lewis, with Grocefully helping you compare prices on these planet-friendly craft beers.
