About Deliciously Ella
Deliciously Ella is a British plant-based food brand founded by Ella Mills in 2012. The brand began as a blog when Ella, then a 20-year-old student at St. Andrews, was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) after experiencing chronic fatigue, migraines, and heart palpitations up to 190 beats per minute. After conventional treatments failed, she transformed her diet to focus on plant-based whole foods, eliminating meat, dairy, and ultra-processed foods. Her symptoms significantly improved, inspiring her to share recipes online. The blog quickly became one of the UK's most popular food websites, leading to a bestselling cookbook in 2015 and the launch of food products in supermarkets in 2016, starting with energy balls. Ella and her husband Matthew Mills founded the food manufacturing business, which has become the fastest-growing snack brand in the UK. The brand expanded to the US in May 2025 with a launch at Whole Foods. In September 2024, Deliciously Ella was acquired by Swiss-based Hero Group for an undisclosed sum. Matthew Mills will become Country Manager for Hero UK&I from January 2026. Separately, Ella and Matthew retained ownership of their Plants brand and acquired Allplants out of administration in February 2025, combining them to create "a new, natural, plant-based powerhouse." The Deliciously Ella product range includes energy balls, oat bars, granola, dips, crackers, and snack pots. All products are plant-based, often gluten-free, and made without artificial additives. The brand emphasises natural ingredients and whole food nutrition. Deliciously Ella is available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, and Ocado.
