About Embassy
Embassy is a historic British cigarette brand launched in 1914 by W.D. & H.O. Wills, one of Britain's oldest tobacco manufacturers. Now owned by Imperial Brands PLC, Embassy has been a fixture of the UK tobacco market for over a century. The brand's modern success began with the 1962 relaunch of Embassy Filter as a coupon brand, which transformed the market. By 1968, Embassy Filter had become Britain's most popular cigarette with a remarkable 24% market share, holding the top-selling position from 1964 until 1970. Embassy became synonymous with British sport through high-profile sponsorships. The brand sponsored the World Snooker Championship from 1976 to 2005 and the World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 until 2003, when UK tobacco advertising restrictions ended these partnerships. The brand has evolved over the decades with various extensions including Embassy Gold, Embassy Regal, Embassy Extra Mild, and Embassy King Size (later Embassy Number 1). Today's range includes Embassy Signature Gold, available in both King Size and Superking formats, continuing the brand's premium positioning. As part of Imperial Brands—one of the world's largest international tobacco companies—Embassy remains widely available across UK retailers. Compare prices at Grocefully.
