About Francois Martenot
Maison François Martenot is a distinguished Burgundy wine house located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Meursault, France. With origins at the beginning of the 20th century when Lucien Gustave Martenot acquired a 10-hectare estate in Savigny-lès-Beaune—a domain originally created in 1859 by Léonce Bocquet, then sole owner of the legendary Château du Clos Vougeot—the house carries a prestigious legacy forged across generations. Today, Maison François Martenot brings together several renowned Burgundy names including Maison Moillard, Reine Pédauque, and Chartron et Trébuchet, employing over 250 staff who work across eight vinification sites spanning the Burgundy hillsides from Chablis through the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Hautes Côtes, and into the Mâconnais. Their 13 properties encompass 325 hectares of vineyards extending from Chablis to Beaujolais. Among the prestigious plots François Martenot operates are classified Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards, including the celebrated Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy, and Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots. Holding dear the values of tradition, the house participates annually in the historic auctions at the Hospices de Beaune and Hospices de Nuits, and serves as exclusive distributor for wines from the Domaine des Hospices de Beaujeu. All estates achieved HVE 3 (High Environmental Value) certification in 2021. The François Martenot portfolio spans 158 different wines, showcasing the breadth and terroir diversity of Grande Bourgogne. Core varietals include Chardonnay and Pinot Noir—the quintessential Burgundy grapes—alongside Aligoté, Gamay, and exceptional Crémant de Bourgogne sparkling wines. UK supermarkets such as Ocado stock accessible regional appellations like Bourgogne Chardonnay, Mâcon-Villages, and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
