About Gressingham
Gressingham is Britain's leading duck brand, producing a unique breed that combines the rich gamey flavour of wild Mallard with the meatier Pekin duck. The result is a succulent duck with more breast meat and less fat than standard breeds. Based in Suffolk and East Anglia, Gressingham is a family business founded by Maurice and Miriam Buchanan, now run by their sons William and Geoff alongside managing director Chris Morley. The company operates 121 poultry farms across the UK, employing 650 permanent staff (rising to 1,200 during Christmas campaigns) and rearing 10 million ducks and 800,000 turkeys annually. Gressingham ducks are bred, reared, and processed within a few miles of each other in Suffolk, ensuring full traceability. All farming is Red Tractor accredited, with ducks raised free-to-roam in light, airy barns with access to water for bathing, daily fresh straw bedding, and continuous feed and water. In 2024/2025, duck sales rose 27% following Gressingham's first TV advertising campaign. The brand now holds 11.3% of all duck sold in UK supermarkets, helping grow duck's share of the poultry market to 16.7%. As one of the only branded poultry producers in the UK, Gressingham products are available at major supermarkets including whole ducks, duck breast, duck legs, and turkey products at Christmas.
