About Lofbergs
Löfbergs is a renowned Swedish coffee roastery founded in 1906 by three brothers – Anders, John, and Josef Löfberg – in the town of Karlstad. What began as a mission to offer an alternative to the local vodka trade has grown into one of the largest family-owned coffee roasters in the Nordic countries. Now in its fourth generation under the chairmanship of Kathrine Löfberg (great-granddaughter of Anders), the company holds Sweden's second-largest market share at 24.5%. The main roastery in Karlstad, known locally as the 'coffee scraper,' has been a city landmark since 1960. Löfbergs has been a pioneer in sustainable coffee. In the early 1990s, they became the first to manufacture aluminium-free, oxygen-tight coffee packaging, setting a new industry standard. They were also the first company in Sweden to sell KRAV-certified organic coffee and today are one of Europe's largest importers of organic and Fairtrade coffee. The company sponsors Färjestad BK ice hockey team and owns Löfbergs Arena in Karlstad. They also own 50% of Peter Larsens Kaffe in Denmark and the Kobbs tea brand. Half of all Löfbergs coffee is now sold outside Sweden since they began exporting in 1993.
