About Maoam
Maoam is one of Germany's most beloved chewy sweet brands, produced by confectionery giant Haribo since 1986. The brand traces its origins to 1930 when Edmund Münster acquired the licence to produce an innovative fruity chew "without gum, made of sugar, syrup and other ingredients" - launching it at Easter 1931 onto the German market. The distinctive chewy texture and bold fruit flavours have made Maoam a household name across Europe and beyond. The range includes iconic formats like Maoam Bloxx (individually wrapped fruit chews), Maoam Stripes (twisted chew bars), Maoam Pinballs (chewy balls), and Sour Kracher (sour dragées), each delivering intense fruit flavour in a uniquely chewy format. Haribo's commitment to Maoam was reinforced in 2025 with the announcement of a €300 million investment in a new "net-zero ready" factory in Neuss, Germany. The expanded facility will increase production capacity to meet growing demand, with construction beginning in 2025 and production launching in 2028. The workforce will grow from 350 to 450 employees. Maoam products are manufactured in Germany using pork-derived gelatine, making them unsuitable for vegetarians, vegans, or those requiring halal products. However, for those who can enjoy them, Maoam offers some of the most satisfying chewy sweets available. Maoam is widely available across UK supermarkets and confectionery retailers.
