About Metcalfe
Metcalfe Models & Toys is a British model railway brand founded on 1st July 1991 by Nick Metcalfe in Skipton, Yorkshire Dales. The company began when Nick produced his first hand-drawn flat pack model of Embsay Station, which became popular with local gift shops. Metcalfe has grown to become the world's premium brand of scale card construction kits for model railway, craft and hobby enthusiasts. The company produces detailed kits in two miniature scales: N scale and OO/HO scale, manufacturing everything at their factory in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The product range includes an extensive collection of railway buildings such as signal boxes, station buildings, platforms, footbridges, and viaducts in both red brick and stone finishes. Scenic kits also feature station workers' cottages, pubs, coaching inns, corner shops, terraced houses, fire stations, and farm buildings. Metcalfe remains a family-run business with Nick & Judy Metcalfe still at the forefront, joined by eldest daughter Paula and husband Chris. The company employs local people with specialist skills and knowledge in model making. Their UK distribution partnership with PECO began with a "handshake deal" that lasted many years, and they've produced exclusive kits for manufacturers including Corgi and Hornby. Today, Metcalfe supplies over 300 UK model shops and exports globally to countries including the USA, Australia, and New Zealand. The brand is known for high quality, realistically detailed card construction kits that bring model railway layouts to life with authentic British architecture.
