About San Pellegrino
San Pellegrino is Italy's most iconic sparkling water and drinks brand, founded in 1899 in San Pellegrino Terme at the foot of the Italian Alps. The company Sanpellegrino S.p.A. is now owned by Nestlé, who acquired it in 1997, and exports products to over 150 countries worldwide. The mineral water originates from springs 400 metres below the surface, where it is naturally mineralised through contact with limestone and volcanic rocks beneath the dolomite mountains. In the early 19th century, nobles would travel to San Pellegrino Terme to "take the water" for its health benefits, establishing its reputation for quality. Carbon dioxide has been added since the early 20th century to preserve freshness during transport. In 1932, entrepreneur Ezio Granelli created the first Sanpellegrino Aranciata by combining sparkling water with fresh-squeezed Sicilian oranges—launching what would become the iconic Italian sparkling drinks range. Today, the fruit beverages are produced exclusively in Italy using sun-ripened Mediterranean fruits: Sicilian lemons and chinotto, with oranges harvested from southern Italy. The UK range includes the signature sparkling mineral water in various sizes, perfect as a palate cleanser or with fine dining. The Italian Sparkling Drinks collection features Limonata (lemon), Aranciata (orange), Aranciata Rossa (blood orange), Pompelmo (grapefruit), and Chinotto. A Zero Added Sugar range offers the same Mediterranean taste with less than 21 calories per can. S.Pellegrino is the choice of top chefs and sommeliers worldwide, with over one billion bottles sold annually. Its unique mid-size bubbles are designed to reveal the finest tastes of food. San Pellegrino products are available at UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, and Asda. Compare prices across retailers with Grocefully.
