About Simoniz
Simoniz is America's first and most iconic car wax company, founded in 1910 by George Simons and Elmer Rich in Chicago. Simons had developed a revolutionary cleaner and carnauba wax product for car finishes, and together with Rich, they established what would become a legendary automotive brand. In 1912, after the Rich brothers acquired full ownership, they renamed the company Simoniz and located their first office at 2121 South Michigan Avenue on Chicago's famous "Automobile Row." The brand's cultural impact extends far beyond car care. For 40 consecutive years following its founding, Simoniz was the world's number one car wax company. The name became so synonymous with quality car care that "Simoniz" and "Simonizing" entered the English language as verbs meaning to wax a car. Elmer Rich's clever advertising slogan "Motorists Wise, Simoniz" became famous through radio promotion. The brand has been referenced in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, the Dudley Moore film Arthur, the holiday classic A Christmas Story, Seinfeld, and hundreds of other cultural works. The original Simoniz paste wax, created in 1911 using natural carnauba, remains one of the longest-lasting car wax products on the market over a century later. Today's Simoniz range has expanded to include their Diamond Wax and Polish maintaining the carnauba heritage, 2-in-1 Shampoo and Snow Foam for efficient washing, glass cleaners and wipes for crystal-clear windows, dashboard cleaners in matte and gloss finishes, Back to Black tyre and trim restorer, Ultracare alloy wheel cleaner, and upholstery and carpet cleaner for interior care. The company passed through several owners including Morton International (1965), Union Carbide (1976), and First Brands before Syndet Products purchased and renamed the company Simoniz USA, Inc. in 1997. Available at UK retailers including Tesco, Simoniz brings over a century of American car care heritage to British motorists, from professional-grade waxes to everyday cleaning essentials and quality accessories like microfibre cloths, chamois leathers, and wash mitts.
