About Tango
Tango is a beloved British carbonated soft drink brand that has been refreshing the nation since its launch as an orangeade in April 1958. Originally created by Welsh company Corona Soft Drinks in Porth, Tango differentiated itself with real fruit content and real sugar sweetening—a formula that set it apart from standard fizzy drinks. The brand gained legendary status through its groundbreaking "You know when you've been Tango'd" advertising campaign, launched in 1992 in response to slowing sales. The campaign completely disrupted soft drinks marketing conventions and became one of the most memorable British TV adverts of all time, propelling sales up by 30% in the first month and pushing Tango to number three in the soft drinks chart behind only Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Today's range spans multiple flavours including the iconic Orange, plus Apple, Cherry, Mango, Lemon, Strawberry & Watermelon, and Paradise Punch. The brand offers regular, sugar-free and low-calorie options across cans, bottles and multipack formats. Following Carlsberg Group's £3.3 billion acquisition of Britvic in January 2025, Tango is now part of Carlsberg Britvic's combined beer and soft drinks portfolio. From its Corona origins through Beecham Group ownership (1958), Britvic acquisition (1986) to Carlsberg Britvic today, Tango's beloved orange flavour remains one of Britain's favourite fruit-flavoured soft drinks, available nationwide in pubs, restaurants and all major supermarkets.
