About Vileda
Vileda is a world-leading German cleaning products brand with over 75 years of heritage, owned by the family-run Freudenberg Group. The name derives from the German phrase 'wie leder' meaning 'like leather', reflecting the texture of their original nonwoven cleaning cloths that launched the brand in 1948. The brand originated from an ingenious observation at Freudenberg's Weinheim factory in the mid-1940s. Employees noticed cleaning staff using discarded scraps of experimental nonwoven fabric as cleaning cloths - these performed remarkably well. This led to the first Vileda window cloth, and the company was formally established as Vileda GmbH in 1962. Today's Vileda range spans floor cleaning (the Turbo 2in1 spin mop system, SuperMocio 3Action mops, Magic Mop, EasyTwist, and 1-2 Spray mop), dishwashing brushes, microfibre cloths, and the specialised Pet Pro range for homes with animals. Replacement refills ensure long product lifespans, reducing waste while maintaining cleaning performance. Managed by Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions GmbH, Vileda operates production facilities in over 30 countries and is distributed across Europe, Asia, Oceania, South America, and Canada. The Freudenberg Group itself dates back to 1849 as a tannery, now diversified into automotive, textiles, chemicals, and healthcare alongside household cleaning.
